Artemis Gaitanos which is an American citizen born in Chicago, is a National Conservatory graduate, with a diploma in violin and modern singing with the teachers S. Stergiou and Anna Diamantopoulou. In addition, she is a Graduate of the American College of Greece (Deree) with a major in Music (Music Award 2010) and minors in Theater Arts and Dance. Artemis has also attended piano seminars with St. Lantsias and seminars of the Carl Orff method. Artemis first played the violin and sung at the chorus of the American Community School of Athens which she attended for elementary, middle school and high school. Artemis received a scholarship for the music middle school of Berkeley in 2000, which she attended for one year. She also participated in the classical orchestras of S. Stergiou, Dimitris Toufexis, E. Miniakouli, T. Papageorgiou (Miki’s Theodorakis pianist), as a violin soloist.
During the winter of 2011, Artemis taught dance and music at the American Embassy of Athens.
Since 2012, Artemis Gaitanos resides in San Francisco, California where she works for the San Francisco Unified School District as a Paraprofessional. She is also a vocal and violin Instructor for Guitar Center in Emeryville, California. She also works part-time for the Oakland Unified School District as an Intervention Specialist. She also worked at Oakes Children Center in San Francisco, CA as a music therapist.
